Pakistan Army clinched the National Games Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for the 24th time after securing 7,909 points with 150 Gold medals, 134 Silver and 96 Bronze medals while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was awarded the fair-play trophy.
Background:
Around 12,000 male and female athletes participated in 34 different disciplines from the four provinces, AJK, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, Army, WAPDA, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Navy, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Police and Railways. The much-awaited 33rd National Games were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa from 10th-16 November in Peshawar.
The list of 34 sports included for the 33rd National Games were:
Men and Women: Archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, Football, cycling, golf, handball, hockey, judo, karate, rowing, rugby, sailing, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, E-gaming and weightlifting.
Only Men: Bodybuilding, boxing, gymnastics, kabaddi, softball, tug of war and wrestling.
The Games were cost Rs.170 million.
