Allied Bank, Habib Metro Lions score wins in Samba Bank Polo Championship

Allied Bank and Habib Metro Lions/Master Paints emerged as victorious in the ongoing Samba Bank Lahore open polo championship.

 

In the first encounter of the day, Allied Bank outsmarted Green Orchard/Rijas in a thrilling match by 7-sMumtaz Abbas Niazi converted the reaming 1 goal. Geoffred hammered a quartet while Ahmed Zubair Butt and Shoukat Ali added 1 goal each from Rijas.

Rijas started the game with good pace and dominated the first two chukkers as they slammed a goal through Geoffredo and the other in the beginning of second chukker while Shaukat Ali converted the third goal to take 3-0 lead. Saqib Khan then opens his arms and banged in a fabulous field goal and reduces the lead 3-1.

Ahmed Zubair from Rijas extended the Rijas lead as he added 1 more goal to take 4-1 lead. Allied Bank then came back to game courtesy 2 goals of Saqib and 1 goal from Mumtaz Abbas and equalizes the game 4-4. The fourth chukker saw Rijas converted 2 more goals and took lead once again by 6-4 but Sabiq Khakwani came in between Rijas and victory and banged in 3 back to back field goals and Allied Bank won the match 7-6.

Second match was played between Habib Metro Lions/Master Paints and Barry’s where combined team effort from Habib Metro Lions cruises Barry’s 7-0. Hamza Mawaz remains the main contributor as he slammed a hat-trick while Edward Banner converted 2 goals and Aun Rizvi and Ahmed Bilal scored 1 goal apiece.

Aun Rizvi opened the account from Habib Metro in the first chukker that was further extended by Hamza, Edward and Ahmed, all of these slammed one goal each. reched Hamza then converted a brace and stretched the lead to 6-0 and once again Edwared banged on a goal to and provide Habib Metro undeniable 7-0 lead. Though none of the team was able to add any goal in the third and fourth chukkers and Habib Metro Lions/Master Paints won the match by 7-0. The only match of tomorrow will be conducted between Black Horse Paints and Army at 3:00 pm.
