Master Paints defeated JS Bank 7-6 in a thrilling contest to clinch the Solitaire Polo Cup 2016 for Faysal Bank title here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground.

Master Paints defeated JS Bank 7-6 in a thrilling contest to clinch the Solitaire Polo Cup 2016 for Faysal Bank title here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on cloudy Sunday.
Faysal Bank investment banking head Bilal Asghar was chief guest and he along with LPC president Irfan Ali Hyder distributed winning trophy and shields among the top performers. IOC member in Pakistan Syed Shahid Ali, LPC executive committee members Ali Malik, Azam Hayat Noon, LPC secretary Agha Najeeb, Col (r) Shoaib Aftab, and a sizeable crowd were also present on the occasion.
Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana played fabulous polo and pumped in five goals for Master Paints while Sufi Farooq and Usman Haye hit one goal apiece. For the losers, Taimur Hayat Noon slammed a hat-trick while Saifullah Noon hit one.
The match started with JS Bank having two-goal handicap advantage but Master Paints opened their account with tremendous two back-to-back goals by in-form Ahmad Tiwana to draw the score at 2-2. In the dying moments of the first chukker, Taimur Hayat scored a field goal to provide JS Bank 3-2 lead.
The second chukker was fully dominated by Master Paints as they slammed two back-to-back goals to take 4-3 lead. Once again it was Ahmad Tiwana who struck twice to complete his quartet. The third chukker was evenly poised as two goals each were score by both the teams. Taimur Noon and Saifullah Noon hit one goal apiece for JS Bank while Ahmad Tiwana and Sufi Farooq scored one goal each for Master Paints. The third chukker ended with Master Paints having 6-5 lead.
Usman Haye started the fourth and last chukker in great style scoring a field goal to give Master Paints 7-5 lead. In the dying moments of the match, JS Bank kept on attacking the Master Paints’ goal and in the dying moment of the match, Taimur Hayat succeeded in the thwarting a tremendous goal but it was too little too late situation for JS Bank, as soon after the Taimur’s goal, the final hooter was blown and the Master Paints won the title with one goal margin as the final score was 7-6. M Usman and Taimur Ali Malik supervised the match as field umpires.
Earlier in the subsidiary final, Subway defeated Newage 3-2. Abdullah Dawood was player of the match as he slammed two goals while Mir Huzaifa Ahmad hit one to help Subway secure third position. For the losing side, Ch Fateh and Alman Jalil Azam scored one goal each. Mian Hussain Iftikhar and Babar Monnoo officiated the match as field umpires.
