Black Horse Paints, Army continue good form in Samba Bank Polo Championship

Black Horse Paints and Army teams won their matches in the ongoing Samba Bank Lahore Open Polo Championship at Lahore Polo Ground.

 

In the first thrilling encounter of the day, Black Horse Paints played exceptionally well to overcome the challenge of Newage by 4-3. Hissam Ali Ahider turned to be the hero of the match as he slammed a hat-trick while Agha Musa scored the remaining goal from Black Horse Paints. Ahmed Ali Tiwana banged in a brace while Adnan Jalil Azam contributed one goal from Newage.

Newage opened its account with a beautiful field goal through Adnan Jalil to take 1-0 lead. Black Horse Paints in their counter attack scored back to back two goals, 1 each from Hissan Ali and Agha Musa and took edge over the Newage team by 2-1. Ahmed Ali Tiwana converted the only goal of the second chukker to level the game once again by 2-2 but in the third chukker Hissam returned with another impressive field goal against the opponents and took lead once again by 3-2.

In the decisive chukker, Ahmed Ali played superbly and fired a field goal to draw the blood again at 3-3. It could be anyone’s game now as both the teams launched attacked on the goal posts of each other. In the last moments of the fourth chukker, Hissam grabbed a golden opportunity and successfully converted a 30-yards penalty given to his team and registered another win by 4-3.

The second match turned to be one-sided as Army cruised Guard Group by 10-1 and taught them the polo lesson very well. Luis Mighal Duggan emerged as the hero for Army as he fired seven goals while Maj Adil Rao converted a brace and Maj Omer Minhas contributed 1 to complete the tally. In a match where Guard Group was only spectators and watched Army converting one goal after other, Abdul Rehman Monnoo scored the only goal for Guard Group.

Army started the match with a high pace as they slammed three goals in the first chukker and took 3-0 lead. They extended their lead in the second chukker by 6-0 as they fired three more goals. In the third chukker, Abdul Rehman Monnoo converted the only goal from Guard Group and after that they were only the spectators and watched Army playing. Army scored another two goals in the third chukker and enhanced their lead to 8-1 and in the last chukker, Army banged in two more goals to take unbeatable 10-1 lead and won the match.

Two more matches will be contested tomorrow as Allied Bank will play against Green Orchard/Rijas in the first encounter at 2:00 pm while Barry’s will vie against Habib Metro Lions/Master Paints in the second match to be played at 3:00 pm.
