Habib Metro Lions, ABL stars in Samba Bank Polo Championship

Habib Metro Lion/Master Paints and Allied Bank limited defeated their opponents on the eight day of ongoing Samba Bank Lahore Open Polo Championship.

 

Habib Metro Lion/Master Paints thrashed Diamond Paints in a one sided contest by 11-4 while in the thrilling encounter between Allied Bank and Barry’s, Allied Bank registers another victory  by 6-5 to win the match.
Heroic of Hamza Mawaz continues as he helped his team Habib Metro Lions to cruise Diamond Paints 11-4. Hamza with fabulous 5 goals, emerged as top scorer while Aun Rizvi and Edward Banner displayed their polo skills and fired a hat-trick each. Eulogio Celestino struck three goals while Mir Huzaifa contributed the remaining 1 goal from Diamond Paints.

Both the teams started the game watchfully as they struck 2 goals each in the first chukker. Hamza showed his class in the second chukker and fired 2 more goals for his side while his teammate Aun Rizvi also banged in a brace to further enhance the lead to 6-2 but soon the counter attack from put some pressure on Habib Metro Lions as Diamond Paints reduce the lead 6-4.

After that Habib Metro Lions players opened their arms and fully dominated the next two chukkers and did not allow Diamond Paints to score any goal. Habib Metro Lions hammered two more goals in the third chukker and three goals in the last chukker to take undeniable lead by 11-4 which remained till the end of the match.

In the second encounter of the day, Allied Bank outsmarted Barry’s in a nail-biting contest by 6-5. Raja Arslan Najeeb displayed outstanding game and slammed a quartet while Saqib Khan Khakwani contributed a brace from Allied Bank. Hernan Pieres scored a hat-trick while Raja Samiullah banged in 2 goals from Barry’s.

Both the teams played head to head but Allied Bank emerged as the winners in the well contested match. Allied Back had a big lead of 5-2 till the end of third chukker. In the fourth chukker they also slammed one more goal to further extend their lead to 6-2. Barry’s in the last chukker came from behind very strongly and fired three goals and bridge the gap 6-5 but could not convert their effort to the victory.
