Syed Tajammul Abbas ITF Pakistan World Junior Ranking Tennis Championships 2019


Results:

  • Top seed Huzaifa Abdul Rehman of Pakistan won the Syed Tajammul Abbas ITF Pakistan World Junior Ranking Tennis Championship-2019 boys’ singles title.

  •  Aysegul Mert from Turkey clinched the  girls’ singles title.

Background:

The Syed Tajammul Abbas ITF Pakistan World Junior Ranking Tennis Championships concluded successfully here at the Syed Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad  from 18th-23rd February. 

International players from Taiwan, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Kuwait, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey and US reached Islamabad and personally signed in with chief referee of the tournament for their participation in the championship.

In the boy’s event, 22 players signed in whereas two players entered as special exemption, three received wild card entry and four have entered as qualifiers after winning their matches in the qualifying round and one player entered as the lucky loser.

As per international rankings Pakistan’s Huzafia Abdul Rehman was the top seed in the event whereas his compatriot Nauman Aftab was second seed.

In the girls event 19 players competed with the eight seeded players included Toglukdemir Mina of Turkey, Russia’s Alioussef Rosaleen, Mert Aysegul of Turkey, the Philippines’ Acena Bea Francesca and Acena Renee Marie, Asim Zoha of Pakistan, Sri Lanka’s Kurera Anjalika and Lin Li Hsin of Taiwan.

According to the draws, top seed pair of Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Shoaib Khan got bye in the first round and moved into the quarter-finals. The second seed pair of Nauman Aftab and Saqib Hayat also got bye. It is to be noted that as many as 34 foreign players participated in this championship.
