8th South Asian Judo Championship 2018


Nepal Judo Association is organizing 8th South Asian Judo Championship in which six teams are taking part including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Pakistan. Bhutan team will be participating in the championship for the first time and it is the first time also that Afghanistan is not taking part in the event.

Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) has selected six male and five female judokas that will represent the country while Abid Majeed will accompany the team as team manager along with Talib Hussain who nominated as coach and Syed Qamar Shakeel Bukhari will be the referee.

The tournament will feature competition in U-60 kg, U-66 kg, U-73 kg, U-81 kg, U-90 kg, U-100 kg and above 100 kg in men’s weight category, while the women’s section features competition in U-48 kg, U-52 kg, U-57 kg, U-63 kg, U-70 kg, U-78 kg and above 78 kg. Every game will be of four minutes each according to the international rule. 

A total of 102 players will be fighting for seven golds, seven silvers and 14 bronzes in men’s and women’s individual categories each, while they will be contesting for one gold, one silver and two bronzes in the men’s and women’s team events each.
