Pakistani Judokas on a roll in South Asian Judo Championship

Pakistani Judokas excels as they won the 2 gold, three silver and three bronze in the individual events of ongoing South Asian Senior Judo Championship 2018 at Kathmandu, Nepal.

 

Babar Hussain qualified for the final of men’s -66kg category but he remained unfortunate as he lost the gold medal match against Nepalese opponent Shrestha Indra Bahadur to settle for silver medal.

Nadeem Akram won the bronze in the -73kg category as he defeated his Nepalese opponent while Shahi. M Abbas also secured bronze in the 81kg category after beating the Bhutanese Dorji.

Beenish Khan bags bronze medal in the -78kg category as she outplayed Bangladesh’s Khatun.

On the teams overall performance, Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) secretary Maqsood Ahmed has said that it is heartening to watch the judokas playing fearlessly for winning in the individual events. He said, “After the first round now team events to start from today and we are hopeful that Pakistani judokas will grab gold and silver in the team events as well”.

Pakistani contingent will land in Faisalabad on April 25. We are doing our best to impart modern-day training to our players. I feel it is IPC and PSB job to look into our efforts and announce special incentives for proud medalists as it will not only encourage them, but also ensure more suitable results in the upcoming Asian Games and other international events.”
