Pakistan’s star polo player Hissam Ali Hyder will earn another milestone of his career when he represents the country in the Commonwealth team that will play against England in the Coronation Cup to be held at the Guards’ Polo Club in London from July 23.

Pakistan’s star polo player Hissam Ali Hyder will earn another milestone of his career when he represents the country in the Commonwealth team that will play against England in the Coronation Cup to be held at the Guards’ Polo Club in London from July 23. It is the first time that an Asian player will be part of the Commonwealth team and Hissam, being the top-ranked player of Asia as six-goal player, got the right to play in this prestigious event. “It is a great honour for me to be playing for the Commonwealth team at the Coronation Cup. This will be a great opportunity for me to not only play alongside the world’s best players but also to contribute my part in reviving Pakistan’s image,” said Hissam in a statement to media.

The Commonwealth team comprises top ranked-players namely Fred Mannix (8 goals), the highest rated player of North America and also captain of the Commonwealth team, JP Clarkin (7 goals), the highest rated played of New Zealand and captain of their national team, and Chris McKenzie (6 goals), South Africa’s highest rated player who has represented the national team.

The Coronation Cup will be showcasing the very best of this fast-paced sport, the finest international players who gather each year to face England hoping to lift this coveted title. The British Royalty, amongst thousands will be attending this premier event to enjoy an exemplary day of sporting action and unrivalled hospitality. Hissam has been competing in polo events in the UK for the last 15 years and has played some of the most renowned tournaments such as the Royal Windsor Cup, Queens Cup and Snow Polo in St Moritz. Hissam is also on the Board of Directors for the prestigious Guard’s Polo Club and continues to make the Pakistani flag fly high at every step of his polo career.
