A three-member expedition team from Czech Republic have arrived in Islamabad to climb 7,452 metres high Muchu Chhish peak, situated in the Batura- Muztagh sub-range in Karakoram mountain range, Pakistan.

Secretary Alpine Club of Pakistan, Karrar Haidri has announced that the Muchu Chhish peak which is also known as Batura V,  has a modest prominence, rising only 263 metres above the nearest col or pass.

He stated the foreign team had been given a briefing about the peak, which had never been climbed in the past. The three brave climbers Pavel Korinek, Jiri Janak and Pavel Bem will climb Muchu Chhish, which is one of the tallest mountains on Earth that remain unclimbed and non-prohibited peak.

The most recent attempt was in 2014 when English mountaineer Peter Thompson turned back at the 6,000 m (20,000 ft) point.

"This is a good sign for our tourism industry as more and more foreign teams are showing keen interest to visit Pakistan even in the current situation due to its beautiful landscape and high mountain."Karrar said.

Leader of the expedition Pavel Korinec said that he was happy to embark on the voyage. He said the number of coronavirus cases had registered a significant decline in Pakistan, which was a good sign for mountaineering.

"We are thankful to the government of Pakistan for opening tourism for foreigners and facilitating the visa strategy," Pavel Korinec said.
