Dunk, rattle & roll: Neighborhood Basketball League (NBL) 2019 continues

A total of 11 matches have been contested in the 2019 Neighborhood Basketball League (NBL) which is being played at Neighborhood Park Clifton, Karachi.

 
IBA and Blazers teams were battling for the victory in the 10th game of the league where it was the 8th match being played. IBA, with their star players sitting it out due to injuries, started with the intention to bounce back after their loss to Bahrians in their previous encounter, as they ran into the win-less Blazers.

The tightly contested game saw both the teams playing their supreme style of basketball, with Blazers running and gunning, and IBA slowing it down and attacking the post using their size. 

Blazers who slightly established a lead by the end of third quarter, were not able to follow their plan till the end of regulation time and came up short once again. Therefore, IBA capitalized on this crucial opportunity by clinching the significant win.

The NBL player of the game went to Rehab Naeem (IBA) for imposing a double-double and scoring 15 points including 11 rebounds.


SCORE BOARD 



First game post Eid-break saw the Bahrians face-off against the LUMS Big 3 that marked the 9th match and 11th game into the league. The closely contested match went down to the wire with LUMS looking for their second win, however nothing stopped the Bahrians for getting that first seed spot to establish them well for the playoffs. 

In the crucial ending minutes of the game, two technical fouls on Mohammed Noman Azam, leading to an ejection costed LUMS Big 3 the game to which Bahrians secured the first seed in the standings.

The NBL player of the game went to Shahmeer Zaheeruddin (Bahrians) for carving a remarkable performance by scoring 16 points, dishing out 3 assists and grabbing 5 rebounds.

While the players who deserve honorable mentions stood Asif Iqbal of LUMS Big 3 for his 12 points, 3 assists and 7 rebounds along with Anas Usman from Bahrians team with this 13 points and 5 rebounds. 


SCORE BOARD



Earlier, game 7's winning spot was claimed by LUMS Big 3 with 54 points against Blazers 53 while Batmans team was able to accumulate a total of 66 final score in the 8th game to beat Bahrains by with their total of 54 points. Batmans also won their next game against LUMS Big 3 by 77-64 (game 9th).
