Army crown champion of National Men and Women Judo Championships 2019

With a total of 11 gold medals, Army team dominated and won the titles of National Men and Women Judo Championship 2019 which concluded successfully at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.

 

Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) in collaboration with Pakistan Army Sports Directorate and Islamabad Judo Association organized the national Men and Women Judo Championships into the current year, which marked 26th edition of Men's while 9th edition of Women's National Championships. 

The strong and skilled Army team clinched sic gold, three silver and one bronze medals in men’s category along with five gold medals, two silver and one bronze in women’s contests. WAPDA finished on the runner-up spot with four gold, three silver and three bronze medals in men’s section with three gold, four silver and one bronze medal in women’s category. 

This championship featured a total of about 13 teams belonging to several different provinces, departments and cities of the country which included:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Army, WAPDA, Railways, Police, Navy and Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The competitions of men were held in ten different weight categories of -50 KG, -55 KG, -60 KG, -66 KG, -73 KG, -81 KG, -90 KG, -100 KG, +100 KG and Open weight, while for the women category, the competitions were contested in 8 different weight categories which includes: -40 KG, -44 KG, -48 KG, -52 KG, -57 KG, -63 KG, -70 KG and Open weight. The Men's Team Event was also contested in -66 KG,-73 KG,-81 KG,-90 KG and +90 KG and the Women's Team Event in -52 KG, -57 KG, -63 KG, -70 KG and +70 KG.
