Umara, Ambreen & Hussain win gold medals in National Judo Championship 2019

Umara, Ambreen, Amina, Hussain and Naveed clinched gold medals in their respective categories in the on-going National Men and Women Judo Championship 2019 which are being held at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.

 

Pakistan talented Judoka, Ambreen Masih added another win to her medal collection when she earned a goal medal in - 63 KG weight category. WAPDA's Ambreen defeated her counterpart from Army; Huma Farooq to etch her name on the top spot in her respective weight class. While in the same category, Maria Karamat from Punjab settled for bronze medal by defeated her Navy opponent; Fazelat Bibi.

Umara Ashiq, Ambereen's sister and their brother, Owais Ashiq, both won gold medals in the -48 KG and -60 KG weight category competitions. Whereas WAPDA's Maryam Jabar managed to win a gold medal in -52 KG weight category and -70 KG weight class gold went to Asma Rani, belonging to Army.

Pakistani-Japanese judoka, Amina Toyoda, who has represented Pakistan in many international events, clinched a gold medal in -57 KG weight class when she defeated her opponent from WAPDA, Shumaila Gull in the final round. Amina is representing Army in this championship. While Shah Hussain, another inernational judoka of Pakistan, who also represents Army, claimed a gold medal in Open weight category.

In the -44 KG event, Iram Shehzadi won gold for Army team. Yet again, another Army star won gold of the men’s -66 KG event, named; Muhammad Hussain who was followed by Danish from HEC on the second spot. Third position went to Railways’ Naveed Masih and Javed Khan from WAPDA, together. 

Naveed Akram and Hamza Babr from Army and WAPDA won gold and silver medal of -73 weight class, respectively and Karamat Bux of WAPDA stood the gold medal winner of -81 KG class, followed by Mohammad Abbas, also from Army. 

Pakistan Judo Federation has organized the National level Judo event into the current year which marks the 26th edition of Men's while 9th edition of Women's National Championships. 

This championship is featuring a total of about 15 teams belonging to several different provinces, departments and cities of the country which include: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Army, WAPDA, Railways, Police, Navy and Higher Education Commission (HEC).
