Cernadas shines with six goals in Golf Gold Cup

Master Paints/Habib Metro, Dollar East/Master Paints and Diamond Paints earned victories in the second round of the Bank Alfalah National Open Polo Championships 2016 for Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Friday.

Santiago Cernadas steered Diamond Paints to 12-4 triumph over Army Remounts. Cernadas was star of the day for Diamond Paints as he played superb polo and fired six goals.

Saqib Khan Khakwani also displayed quality game to pump in four goals and Raja Taimur Nadeem hit two to come out as victorious.

For the losing side, Major Haseeb Minhas struck twice while George Meyrick and Major General Isfandiyar Pataudi hit one each.

In another match, Hissam Ali Hyder helped Master Paints/Habib Metro draft 9-6 win against Sabiha Anees.

Hissam hammered four goals. He was ably supported by Pedro Gutierrez, who slammed in three while Mumtaz Abbas Niazi and Sufi Amir contributed one goal apiece.

For the losing side, Pedro Zacharias fought hard contributing with four goals while Shah Qubilai Alam and Nafees Barry added one goal each.

Juan Cruz Losada blasted a match-winning goal in the sudden death chukker to guide Dollar East/Master Paints to a thrilling 8-7 victory over spirited Learning Alliance.

Losada was main warrior of Dollar East/Master Paints as he had the lion’s share scoring five goals for the winners while rest of the three goals came from Hamza Mawaz Khan.

For the losing side, Max Charlton slammed six goals and Ahmed Tiwana one.
