Remington Polo beats Newage to Win Polo in Pink Title

Remington Polo in a thrilling game defeated Newage by 9-8½ and won the “Polo in Pink 2017” title while Guard group thrashed Rijas in the Subsidiary final at Lahore Polo Club ground.

 

Bilal Haye was in splendid form and he was so charged in last three tournaments. Bilal hammered 7 goals from his side and remaining 2 goals were scored by Bilal Hayat Noon. Newage started the game with a half goal handicap advantage. Shah Shamyl Alam converted sterling six goals and Adnan Jalil Azam and Mir Huzaifa hit one goal apiece but they were not as good to win and lost the final match by just a half goal margin.

Remington Polo takes lead in the 1st chukker on Newage by 2-1½ but Newage came from behind and got the lead in the 2nd chukker by 4½-3. Remington Polo fought hard and struck a hat-trick to make the lead 6-4½ but again Newage thwarted 2 more goals to take the lead again 6½-6 before the end of 3rd chukker.

Both the teams played exceptionally well in the 4th chukker but with some extra effort of Remington Polo, they managed to hit 3 more goals. Although, Newage also score two more goals but they were not enough to win the final match. The final score remains in favor of Remington Polo with 9-8½. Saqib Khan Khakwani and Raja Arslan Najeeb officiated the final as field umpires.

After winning the title, captain and CEO of Remington Pharma Polo Dr Faisal Qadeer Khokhar said: “I am very delighted for winning the title which I and my team earned after a lot of hard work and team work. Bilal Haye proved to be a true hero of our team. I hope we all will continue good work and win more and more titles in this season.”

Before the Main final, Subsidiary final was played between Guard Group and Rijas where Graud group were too good for Rijas to beat them by 6-5. Taimur Mawaz khan was the Player of the match from Guard group who banged in 4 goals for Guard group out of 6 while Taimur Ali Malik and Samir Malik contributed 1 goal each. In reply, Raja Arslan from Rijan hammered 4 goals and Omar Asjad Malhi added 1 goal.

Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital Medical Director Dr Asif Loya graced the final as chief guest while Lahore Polo Club president Irfan Ali Hyder, executive committee members Umar Sadiq, Umar Niazi, Saqib Khan Khakwani, Secretary Col (r) Shoaib Aftab, Remington Pharma CEO Dr. Faisal Qadeer Khokhar, players’ families and a great number of polo lovers were also present on the occasion.

The final was witnessed by a great number of polo lovers who not only enjoyed the enthralling final but also lauded the air and horse show which was arranged by Lahore Polo Club (LPC) and Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital management in a befitting manner. LPC president Irfan Ali Hyder has said that the purpose of holding this event in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital was to create awareness about breast cancer among the masses. “I am really grateful to our sponsors Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital for sponsoring this event and we are always with them for this noble cause.”
