24th CNS Open Golf Championship


The lush green course of Karachi Golf Club (KGC) hosted the Chief of the Naval Staff Open Golf Championship, which marked its 24th successful edition into the current year.

This championship had a total of eight (8) category competitions which included:

1. Professionals
2. Senior Professionals
3. Junior Professional
4. Amateurs
5. Seniors
6. Veterans
7. Ladies
8. Juniors

Professional and Amateurs category golfers played rounds on 72 holes while there were 18 holes matches for Juniors, Ladies and Seniors and 9 holes matches for Veterans' category participants.

An attractive prize money of Rupees 8.1 Million was announced for this championship by Pakistan Golf Federation-being the organizer of this elite event in collaboration with Pakistan Navy. The Hole-in-One winner, who stood the  26 year old golfer, Salman Akhtar, got a brand new Toyota Fortuner car.

The ultimate winner of this prestigious golf event stands as Lahore's Matloob Ahmad, who collected this title thrice this year, winning it previously once in 2011 and then in 2016. Runner-up spot is taken by Muhammad Tariq.

The involvement of Pakistan Navy in golfing event such as this, not only contributes in generating healthy activities in the society but also helps project a ‘Sporting’ image of Pakistan across the globe.

First edition of CNS Golf Championship was introduced back in 1995 to add a national level Golf event in the calendar of Pakistan Golf Federation. Ever since, it has become a regular and major event of national golf circuit. Since then, the regular conduct of championship is the manifestation of PN’s commitment towards promotion of this sport at national level.
