The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Amateur Golf Championship was held over the course of four days from 21st till 24th November at the lush green golf course of Margalla Greens Golf Club in the Federal Capital.
This four-day golfing event which was affiliated with the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) marked its 13th successful edition where several amid national amateur, ladies and a number of senior and junior golfers were seen competing with all their skills to triumph over each other in their respective categories to take home the title victory.
The Dubai Trade Agency (DTA) stood the title sponsor of the event while Toyota is once again sponsored a brand new Corolla for Hole-in-One winner whereas several other lucrative prizes were kept for different category winners.
A total of four category competitions were contested in this championship which are stated below:
- Amateurs over 54 holes (handicap of 12 and below)
- Seniors over 36 holes (over 55 years with handicap of 14 and below)
- Juniors over 18 holes (Under 16 years of age with handicap of 24 and below) and
- Ladies over 36 holes (34 golfers with handicap of 30 and below)
In addition to the main categories, an Invitational event was also played among the guests and sponsors over the 9 holes.
Ali Bangash of Garden City Golf Club took home the major win of the event by triumphing over his opponents to earn the coveted title of the Chief of the Naval Staff Amateur Golf Championship in the Amateurs category with a net score of 203.
While the seasoned golfer, Afzal Ahmed and Taimur Khan won the Gross and Net events respectively in the handicap six and below class.
Senior Amateur Gross title winner stood, Amir Mir whereas Sami Ullah Khan won the Net category. Ji Young Jun marking 171 gross grabbed the top spot of Ladies category while Iman Ali Shah won the Net event.
