Markhor emerged as the Red Bull National champion from the highly competitive national qualifiers and coasted their way to represent Pakistan at the World Finals in Turkey.
Zinda dilan e Lahore’s finest team Markhor emerged as the Red Bull National champion from the highly competitive national qualifiers and coasted their way to represent Pakistan at the World Finals in Turkey.
Markhors are an elite selection of players from two of Lahore’s top clubs – Don Bosco and DHA.
Markhors’s Samiullah represented Pakistan two years ago while his other team-mates, Humza Butt and Adnan Awan are regarded as to of Lahore’s best players. Zain Khan, meanwhile, plays for one of Pakistan’s top departmental teams.
After the top eight teams played 12 group matches, direct semifinals were played where Shaheens Basketball Club beat Bulls at 14-9 and Markhors beat frank five by 18-12 to secure spots in final.
With the tremendous victory in the semifinal Markhor enjoyed high-scoring win in the final at 21-8 over Shaheens Badkeball club of Multan in an action-packed day, as there was joy and heartbreak in equal measure as basketball’s novel 3x3 format was played in the country for the first time at a tournament level.
