Karachi to hold International level Marathon

Administrator Karachi, Iftikhar Shallwani has announced to hold an international level marathon with the objective to streamline sports activities in the city.

The meeting held over this Thursday chaired by Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani, came to a conclusion that Karachi will soon be staging an international level marathon race.

The meeting had the presence of SOA vice-chariman Asif Azeem, PSWA’s Shahida Parveen, PTF vice-president Khalid Shamsie, former basketball players and sailor Engr Mahfoozul Haq, KBBA’s Ghulam Mohammad, Sindh Shootingball’s honorary secretary Aijaz Qureshi, Yoga Federtion Mohammad Asrshad, Sindh boxing fedration’s head Asghar Baloch, Nafees Ahmed of weightlifting fedration and others.

“This city has tremendous talent and we need to groom it as a service to the nation.” Shallwani said.

The event will be a part of measures to promote peace, harmony and sportsman spirit of the people of Karachi and would help city administration to promote and streamline the sports activities in the city.

Shallwani has expressed that he will be inviting famous stars from national level and abroad and will ensure that the peaceful marathon race is contested with all the SOPs intact for the participants.

“I am proud to say that under by tenure as commissioner, I organised two national level marathons in which thousands of Karachiites and international stars participated. Besides we also successfully hosted Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches here in Karachi which drew so many fans to the stadium,” recalled Shallwani.
