Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab has conducted a webinar on the topic of ‘Decline of Sports in Pakistan’ on August 19, 2020.
Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said Pakistan make more progress in the field of sports by embracing present-day sports procedures and improving the wellness level of its competitors; he said this while tending to the members of an online webinar.
Dr Bilal Quershi delivered a detailed lecture to light up the decline of Sports in Pakistan. He said by utilizing current innovation and we can gain the top sport in sports again.
Divisional Sports Officer Gujranwala Saifur Rehman has hosted this online training webinar. All divisional, district, tehsil sports officers and coaches of the province took part in the webinar. Experts have delivered a lecture on the topic of ‘Decline of Sports in Pakistan’ during the online training workshop.
Addressing the webinar, Adnan Arshad Aulakh said though Pakistanis trying in some key sports like hockey and football etc at the same time our players have shown adequate results in games like kabaddi, athletics and wrestling etc which is pretty heartening.
“Pakistan recently won the Kabaddi World Cup against arch-rivals India at home."
"Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem excelled and won a gold medal in South Asian Games and qualified for Olympic Games”, he added.
Highlighting the circumstances behind sports decline in Pakistan, the SBP DG said the growing trend of mobile and internet among youth could be named as the influential factors for Pakistan’s downfall in certain sports.
“It’s right time for parents to make effective efforts to free their children from mobile phobia and motivate them to take an active part in sports activities especially ground games”, he mentioned.
