GOVERNOR STRESSES PROMOTING SPORTS FOR PEACE
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that our youth have potential and steps have been taken to provide them with a healthy environment for sports and hence prevent the young generation from going into un-healthy activities.

He said steps are being taken for development of health sector, provision of modern health and education facilities and promotion of sports in Fata. He said no efforts would be spared to provide the opportunity to tribal youth to excel in sports and healthy activities. we are committed to bring the people of FATA into the mainstream by utilizing all available resources.
He was addressing as Chief Guest on the eve of Volleyball Match in connections with the celebrations of the International Day of Sports for Peace & Development here at Qayum sports Complex, Peshawar on Sunday, the Governor further pointed out that indeed, the sports oriented events certainly contribute positively in restoring confidence of the general public.
Besides, Former Governor Khyber pakhtunkhwa, Engr. Shaukatullah, Salim saifullah, Vittorio Cammarota, Director UNIC, Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan, President POA, Yaqoob Chaudhary, Chairman Pakistan Volley Ball Federation, Syed Aqil Shah, President KP Olympic Association.In the Volleball Match between the KP and FATA teams, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the match.
Governor said KP and FATA did not lack talent and our youth had proved their abilities internationally. Their success sufficiently proved the fact that there is no dearth of talent and there is only need to offer opportunities to young players to further prove their worth.
Governor said steps being taken to provide education facilities to tribesmen adding that we had already imposed education emergency in the tribal region with main focus on ensuring 100 percent enrolement and retentions in the schools.
Governor congratulated the players and organizers for their joint efforts to promote sport for peace. He said that the sport is the only medium which guarantees the development of good health, harmony, friendship and social values in the society. “We have a very rich history of contributing in promotion of the internationally acknowledged games, he added. He said, once we used to dominate in Hockey and Squash in the world and have unique record of being world champion in 4 sports at a time that was Hockey, Squash, Cricket and Billiard & Snooker. He said the incumbent government was committed to promote the positive activities and sports adding that there is no dearth of talent in both KP and FATA.
He said sports is an important pillar of the national life and require full attention and support of all segments of the society. He said we have to have wholehearted efforts to bring sports to a respectable level. He said we are committed to address the geniune problems of sportsmen. Governor stated that Sport has a power to unite people, bring harmony, goodwill and friendship among the society. He appreciated the joint efforts of UNIC, HEC, PSB and POA for celebrating the International Day of Sports for Peace & Development in a befitting manner. He also offered compliments to the FATA spikers for their spirited fight and skillful demonstration of the game.
At the end, the Governor Iqbal zafar Jhagra gave away medals and prizes to the players.
