The 72nd Punjab Games will be held from September 30 to October 2 here.
“The dates of the games were decided in the Executive Committee meeting held last month,” said Idris Haider Khawaja, Secretary, Punjab Olympic Association here on Tuesday.
He said as many as 20 men and 9 women disciplines will be contested in the event.
Men events: athletics, body-building, boxing, badminton, cycling, football, gymnastics, hockey, judo, ju jistu, karate, kabbadi, kick boxing, tennis, rugby, rowing, squash, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.
Female events: athletics, basketball, baseball ,handball, table tennis, taekwondo, swimming, volleyball and tug of war.
“All the nine divisions of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Multan, D.G Khan and Bahawalpur Division will take part in the competition,” he said.
Khawaja said the respective competitions will be organized by the concerned provincial sports association. The Punjab Olympic Association already requested the Chief Minister Punjab to inaugurate the opening ceremony and Governor Punjab will be the chief guest at the closing and prize distribution ceremony.
