Former world champion Asif survives marginally to enter World Men 6 Reds Championship 2019 final

Former world champion, Muhammad Asif of Pakistan survived to play final of World Men 6Reds Championship 2019 after winning the grueling semi-final against Thet Min Lin of Myanmar 5-4.

Former world champion, Muhammad Asif of Pakistan survived to play final of World Men 6Reds Championship 2019 after winning the grueling semi-final against Thet Min Lin of Myanmar 5-4. 

He will now take on Laxman Rawat of India in the final, who confirmed his berth after winning the deciding frame against his compatriot and two-time world 6Red champion Pankaj Advani.

Asif went through heavy turbulence throughout the match but constantly maintained his hope which helped him in fighting against the young sensational snooker player of Myanmar. The tight competition had begun from the first frame itself, where Asif had to cover the lead of 33 points clearance break of 34 secure first frame. Even after that Asif won another tight frame on pink ball game.

Down 2 frames, Thet Min Lin of Myanmar managed to secure the frame on low score but then clearance break of 58 points helped him to level the match. However, Asif sent counter break of 51 points to maintain the lead.

Asif’s hard time began after that where Thet secured next two frames by huge margin 60-04 and 39-06 and put pressure on Asif. Down 3-4, Asif played sensibly and sent worthy break of 45 points to set the decider and the punished couple of mistakes by Thet to secure the frame 36-16 and the match 5-4. 

In second semi-final, Laxman Rawat secured final berth by winning the deciding frame against tournament favourite Pankaj Advani. After alternate frame wins, Advani took lead of 3-1 but then Laxman compiled clearance break of 73 points to level again. 

Though Laxman managed to secure next two frames too but Advani once again returned to the match after winning 8th frame on pink ball.

In the decider, Laxman struggled after obtaining initial lead and Advani played ball-to-ball game to recovered and reached till the last black. They both tightened the rope but at last a loose shot by Advani allowed Laxman to pot last black and won the match.
