Pakistan thrash India 3-1 to claim 2nd World Snooker Team Cup 2019

Pakistan thrashed India 3-1 in the final to clinch World Snooker Team Cup for their second team title in four days as the curtain fell at Doha.

Maintaining their stranglehold, Pakistan thrashed India 3-1 in the final to clinch 2nd World Snooker Team Cup 2019 for their second team title in four days as the curtain fell at Doha. 

In first frame, Pakistani players played exceptionally well as they attained 64 points and curtailed both the Indian players on score of 11 point only to enjoy 1-0 lead over India.


Pakistan’s duo of Asjad Iqbal and Mohammad Bilal applied his experience and planted snooker in the very beginning and obtained first 30 points. Once they got right position, they went for scoring and established good lead to win the second frame at 93-1.


In that situation, the combination of Pankaj & Laxman played good safety and limited scoring shots to clinch the third frame scoring 79-23. After that the Asjad and Bilal dominated fourth & deciding frame against defending champions India’s team, comprising experienced Pankaj Advani and Laxman Rawat.

Earlier, Pakistan beat hosts Qatar 3-1 while India defeated Ireland 3-2 in their semi-final clash.

Thus, Pakistan’s duo of Asjad Iqbal and Mohammad Bilal won the best of five frames title clash with the final score line of 64-11, 93-1, 23-79, 58-33.

On June 29, the same Indian team was beaten by Pakistan’s Babar Masih and Zulfiqar Qadir 3-2 in the preceding final to win the ACBS Asian Team Snooker Championship 2019 crown.

All in all, Pakistan returned with a haul of two golds, a silver and three bronze medals from back-to-back four competitions.

Semi-finals: Pakistan bt Qatar 1 by 3-1 (48-59, 75-0, 109-1, 64-35); India bt Ireland 3-2 (57-59, 7-76, 101-9, 66-16, 75-34).
