WAPDA takes top spot of 27th National Men & 13th National Women Karate Championships

Lahore hosted the 2019 National Men and Women Karate Championships in which several talented fighters participated in various competitions at Nishtar Sports Complex.

 

Among the top fighters, WAPDA and Army, as expected took the top two spots in Women championship with accumulating a total of 190 points with eight golds and a silver medal while Army took the runner up spot by managing a total of 110 points with five silver medals. 


Pakistan Railways sports girls did not stay behind this time as they excelled with one gold and one silver medals in the women event and obtained third position accumulating a total of 65 points.

On the Men side for WAPDA, Asian gold medalist karate star, Saadi Abbas of WAPDA won gold medal in Men’s below 75 KG fight against Nadir of HEC. WAPDA’s Baz Muhammad outplayed Muhammad  Laftian of Army in above 84 KG contest. Naseer Ahmed and Muhammad Awais, both from WAPDA were declared winners in below 67 KG and below 84 KG fights, respectively.

Under auspices of Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF), the 2019 editions of National Men Karate Championship and National Women Karate Championship which marked their 27th and 13th editions, respectively, were held in Lahore at Nishter Sports Complex.

Eight of the affiliated Units of Pakistan Karate Federation fielded their athletes in these championships which included: Pakistan WAPDA, Army, Railways, Police, Islamabad, Baluchistan, Punjab Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. Players from their respective teams were seen competing with all their might so as to earn top honors in these championships.
