NBP Ranking Snooker C’ship 2019: Ahsan takes out third seed Zulfiqar A. Qadir in style

Muhammad Asif is drawn against Muhammad Ahsan Javaid while Muhammad Sajjad (Pjb) is up against Mubashir Raza in the semifinals of 11th NBP Ranking Snooker Championship 2019, being played here at the NBP Sports Complex, Karachi.

 
The 11th edition of NBP Ranking Snooker Championship 2019 move into semifinal stage where Muhammad Asif is drawn against Muhammad Ahsan Javaid while Muhammad Sajjad is up against Mubashir Raza. 

Former world champion Mohammad Asif of Punjab handed 5-4 defeat to holder the runner-up of last year’s national U-21 snooker championship Mohammad Shahbaz, the seventh seed Asif advanced into semifinal with the final score line of 71-25, 50-41, 32-94(93), 40-102(96), 411-63, 58-2, 58-32, 17-93(83), 125-03(124) to stay in contention.

Third seed and Sindhi crusader lost to unseeded Muhammad Ahsan Javaid, coming from Punjab, showed great stamina and skill by registering 5-1 with the final score line of 72-39, 52-10, 70-46, 37-81, 61-50, 79-33.

Muhammad Sajjad of Punjab who succeeded in blowing the whistle on the reigning national champion overpowered Ahsan Ramzan of Punjab in tough battle by 5-4 with the final score line of 37-64, 60-51, 54-69, 71-36, 16-85(77), 68-64, 47-79, 71-43(50), 103-20(103). Earlier, 16-year-old Ahsan Ramzan shocked Pakistan’s top-ranked cueist Muhammad Bilal on the second day of preliminary round matches.

Mubashir Raza displayed better acumen to post an exciting 5-1 victory over former junior world champion Mohammad Naseem Akhtar, the score being 63-46, 93-7(63), 41-62, 66-21, 74-4, 74-51. 

The day also saw two centurions breaks including the highest 124 by Muhammad Asif and the 103 by Muhammad Sajid against Ahsan Ramzan.
