Mudassir beat former world champion Naseem 5-4 to wins Jubilee Insurance National U-18 Snooker Championship 2019

Sheikh Muhammad Mudassir of Punjab defeated former world U-18 champion Muhammad Naseem Akhtar of Punjab by 5-4 in the thrilling final of Jubilee Insurance National U-18 Snooker Championship here at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.

Naseem, who won the IBSF U-18 title in 2017, started the match on positive note as he won the opening frame by 53-2 while Mudassir showed great snooker skills to win the second frame by 75-20.

Mudassir was in great form and showed quality game as he continue his aggressive play to win next three consecutive frames by 55-14, 67-31, 68-29 in a very well contested match.

Naseem made a strong comeback from 1-4 down to put Mudassir by winning the next three frames by 17-65, 8-80, 22-67 in a dominant fashion and equalizes the lead at 4-4.

In the deciding frame, both players tried hard to take commanding position but it was Mudassir who took the early lead with some tactical game and constantly besieged Naseem in the well contested final frame which he comfortably positioned himself to win at 74-25.

Shaikh Muhammad Mudassir claimed the title of Jubilee Insurance National U-18 Snooker Championship 2019 with the final score line of 2-53, 75-20, 55-14, 67-31, 68-29, 17-65, 8-80, 22-67, 74-25.

Earlier, in the semi-final Punjab’s Mudassir overcame Shehryar Khan of Sindh by 4-2 with the final score line of 9-67, 59-49, 55-40, 18-67, 76-45, 58-28.


Attention will now shift to the National U-21 Championship which begins from Thursday.
