Seven outsiders were among the 16 who stepped into the knockout pre-quarter-finals of the 41st National Snooker Championship at a local hotel on Tuesday.

Seven outsiders were among the 16 who stepped into the knockout pre-quarter-finals of the 41st National Snooker Championship at a local hotel on Tuesday.

The seven, who stormed into the pre quarters were Mohammad Afzal, Abdul Jawed, Iftikhar Khan, Abu Saim, Mohammad Faheem, Sohail Shehzad and Asjad Iqbal.

The seeded cueists who made their exit were Sharjeel Mehmood, Sultan Mohammad, Rambel Gul, Imran Shehzad, Mohammad Asif Toba, Khurram Agha and Aakash Rafique.

Meanwhile, three century breaks - two by Sohail Shehzad against Mohammad Jawed Ansari and one by Mohammad Bilal against Haris Tahir - highlighted the concluding day's proceedings.

Shehzad scored exactly 100 in the first and third frames while routing Ansari 4-1 (10441, 36-56,110-8, 72-5, 964). Bilal hammered 101 in the fifth frame while inflicting 4-2 defeat on Tahir (67-22, 61-42, 33-71, 75-37, 0-101, 66-36).

The 16, who qualified for the knockout round include Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Afzal (A)), Mohammad Sajjad, Abdul Jawed (B), Mohammad Bilal, Iftekhar Khan (C), Shahram Changezi, Abu Saim (D), Mohammad Majid Ali, Mohammad Faheem (E), Babar Masih, Abdul Sattar (F), Sohail Shehzad, Shahid Aftab (G), Zulfiqar A.Qadir, Asjad Iqbal (H).
