Quaid-e-Azam Inter Collegiate Girls Basketball Tournament gets underway
KMA College White, SMB Fatima Jinnah White & SMB Fatima Jinnah Green beat their respective opponents in Quaid-e-Azam Inter Collegiate Girls Basketball Tournament which is being played at Arambagh Basketball Court in Karachi.
The Quaid-e-Azam Inter Collegiate Girls Basketball Tournament has been organized by Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF) in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in which several teams belonging to different colleges of Karachi are participating so as to earn the title as well as the trophy of the tournament.
SSP and Sports Officer of the Pakistan Railways, Shehla Qureshi inaugurated the tournament being the honorable chief guest at the opening ceremony of the tournament. While on the second day, Gohar Raza, Sports Manager, IBA University was the chief guest.
In the first match played on the first day of the tournament, Bahria College Karsaz crushed SMB Fatima Jinnah College White in a one-sided encounter 24-16 points while in the second match, SMB Fatima Jinnah College Green and KMA College White played much of an interesting game which finished in SMB Fatima Jinnah College Green’s favor on a 23-18 score-line.
While on the second day of the tournament, the first match of the day saw, KMA College White beating Government Women College on 28-23 points as the players from the winning team kept their momentum in the court shooting through Habiba who score most, 9 points followed by Arfia who scored one point less from her. Hira with her 7 successful shots right into the basket also contribute in the hard-fought win of the winning team.
Whereas for the losing side, Ayesha, Mahrukh and Tooba managed to score 6 points each but even with their efforts they lost the match.
SMB Fatima Jinnah College White also had to struggle for the win against KMA College Green in the second clash of the day in which SMB Fatima Jinnah College White managed to register first win in the tournament by 24-20 points. Shazma and Fatima with their excellent dunning and shooting skills, shot 8 points each along with Rabael who scored 6 points and them, together earned their team victory into the game.
For the losing team, Mahnoor and Sidra played well and scored 6 points each while Javeria scored 5 points but suffered their first loss in the game.
Last match of the day witnessd SMB Fatima Jinnah College Green made the Government Women College bear the loss of the match in a one-sided encounter as 28-16. Khizan, Anum and Nazia contributed 16, 6 and 4 points each in the win for their team, respectively.
As for the losing side, Mahrukh and Sana managed to score 9 and 6 points, respectively.
