2nd Inter Provincial Tchoukball Championship starts tomorrow

A total of nine (9) teams are to vie in the 2nd Inter-Provisional Tchoukball Championship for Men which is scheduled to played from 6th to 9th December at Crescent Sports Complex in Faisalabad.

Pakistan Tchoukball Federation (PTBF) and Divisional and District Tchoukball Association Faisalabad along with Punjab Tchoukball Association are jointly organizing the second edition of Inter Provincial Tchoukball Championship under the supervision of Spots Board Punjab. The championship is open to men only.

Tchoukball is an indoor team sport developed in the 1970s and is a kind of sport that reduces injuries when playing and is not aggressive between players. It is usually played on an indoor court with a frame at each end which is a device similar to a trampoline, off which the ball bounces and a semicircular D-shaped forbidden zone. Each team comprises of 12 players, of whom 7 may be on the court at any one time.

As many as nine (9) teams from all over Pakistan belonging to different provinces are participating in this four-day championship in which boys are given chance to exhibit their skills in this unique sport.

Participating teams are namely stated below:
1. Islambad (ISB)
2. Baluchistan
3. FATA
4. Punjab A and B
5. Sindh
6. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
7. Gilgit Baltistan (GB)
8. Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)

Tchoukball has become an international sport, played in Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, India, Italy, Spain, Japan, Macau, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United States. It is somewhat gaining roots in various divisions of Pakistan as well.
