Sohaib, Moiz and Waseem named for The Alchemist Cup Scrabble Tournament 2018

Sohaib, Moiz and Waseem from Pakistan will be representing the Rest of Asia Team in the Alchemist Cup Scrabble Tournament 2018 which is scheduled to be staged from 5th to 9th December in Penang, Malaysia.

The Alchemist Cup Scrabble Tournament 2018 is organized by Michael Tang in joint initiative with WESPA Chairman, Elie Dangoor which will be held in G Hotel Gurney in Penang, Malaysia from 5th to 9th December 2018. This is a World Team event with 10 teams and 5 players per team. A total of nine games per day will be played making a total of 45 games all up. And as it is a team event, no team member will play their fellow team members. 

The winner takes all 20 game marathons between current world’s#1, Ganesh Asirvatham, and former World Number 1, Nigel Richards.

This tournament is considered as world’s toughest scrabble tournaments featuring several current and former world champions. 16 year old Sohaib Sanaullah was granted the opportunity to be able to take part in the tournament from Pakistan as Sherwin Rodrigues of India dropped out from the Rest of Asia team due to personal reasons. Sohaib will be the youngest player in the competitions.

Former World Youth Champion Moiz Ullah Baig and 8-time National Champion Waseem Khatri are also part of Rest of Asia Team from Pakistan’s side along with top slaying giants from nine other nations’ teams participating in the tournament.
