Pakistani cueists through to IBSF last 16 round

Pakistani cueists displayed impressed play and both the teams moved into the round of 16 in the inaugural IBSF World Team Cup at Doha.

Mohammad Sajjed and Asjad Iqbal were teamed up and the duo outplayed Indian team 2 in a thrilling encounter to claim victory (3-2) by 36-67, 68-13, 34-83, 67-28(53), 68-4.

Pakistani team 1 was a frame down against India's team 2 although they equalized but once again goes down to 2-1. Then Pakistan team came back hard on rivals and not only leveled the match 2-2 but also thrashed Indians in the final frame to clinch the match 3-2. Pakistan team also registered a break of 53 in the fourth frame.

After beating India, Pakistan duo overpowered Poland 3-0 to top the Group C by 68-27, 74-10, 121-5.

Pakistan 2 (Mohammad Asif and Babar Masih) meanwhile trembled Russia first by 3-2 and then routed Iraq 3-0 to top the group A.

Pre quarter-finals of the tournament to be played today followed by the quarterfinals while the semifinals and final scheduled to be played on Friday.

Total 24 teams participated in the first ever IBSF World Team cup which are divided into 8 groups.
