Army takes Rugby League Title

Pakistan Army secured 21 points to win the title of 5th Servis Tyres 15-a-side Rugby League at Pakistan Rugby Academy Lahore Cantt.

The league was organized by Pakistan Rugby Union and final match was played between Islamabad Jinns and Army in which though won by Islamabad Jinns by 11-7 but overall with 21 points, Army secured the title. Islamabad Jinns with 18 points earned the second spot while with 15 points, Lahore Rugby Football Club (LRFC) was placed on third and Lahore Hawks ended on forth position with 6 points. Lodhran team could not win a single match.

15-a side rugby league continued for 6 months where 24 teams fought against opponents to lock the top honor in three divisions. 5 top teams were moved to division one were Army, Islamabad Jinns, LRFC, Lahore Hawks and Lodhran, the highest division. Each team played eight matches and finally, Army secured the top spot in the points table to win the league.

Patron Pakistan Rugby League Lt Gen (r) Ashraf Saleem was the chief guest of the event while Chairman Pakistan Rugby Union Fawzi Khawaja, Servis Tyres GM Marketing Raja Saeed, Tariq Niazi, Yahya Bhatti, Shakeel Ahmad Malik, Faizan, Haji Anwaar and a great number of rugby lovers were also present on the occasion and witnessed the final match. At the end of the match, chief guest along with Rana Saeed distributed the prizes among the winners.
