Naseem Akhter retains U21 National Snooker Championship title

IBSF U-18 champion Mohammad Naseem Akhter from Punjab downs Mohammad Shahbaz to win the title of U-21 National Junior Snooker Championship at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.

Defending champion Mohammad Naseem defeated Punjab’s fellow Shahbaz 6-3 and his frame score remains 63-26, 107-17, 23-60, 60-17, 35-66, 51-64, 61-12, 59-05, 65-53. Naseem also played a break of 74 in the second frame. After winning the two frames, Shahbaz played well to down Naseem in the third frame. Naseem won the fourth frame but Shahbaz won back to back two frames to make the game alive. Naseem then did not allow opponent to play freely as he two frames to retain the title.

Mohammad Naseem pocketed RS.50, 000 after winning the week long tournament while the runner-up Shahbaz received RS.25, 000.

Punjab’s Muhammad Umar also bagged RS.50, 000 after winning the title of U-18 national junior snooker championship while runner-up Muhammad Mudassir Sheikh collected RS.25, 000. Federal Minister for Inter-provincial coordination was the chief guest of the closing ceremony and he distributed the prizes among the players.
