Shabbir Iqbal seals Habib Memorial Golf title

Shabbir Iqbal stamped the title of Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Championship title Karachi Golf Club.

 

Shabbir Iqbal displayed his golfing skills and stamped his authority on all four days of the championship over his opponents and with a score of 12 under-par (276) he won the title of Bank Al Habib’s 7th Rashid D Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Championship.

Shabbir Iqbal received the winning prize of RS.431, 409 while Waheed Baloch remained the second as he received RS.357, 459 followed by M Munir and Ansar Mahmood who shared the third position and earned RS.201, 000 each. 5 top golfers from Pakistan also received RS. 100, 000 each are Ansar Mahmood, Waheed Baloch, Matloob Ahmed, M Munir and Shabbir Iqbal.

In senior professional category, Imdad Hussain from LGG and Mehmood Kiyani secured the first and second spot and received RS.119, 000, RS.70, 000 respectively. Asad Khan and Nadeem jointly holds the second position and earned RS. 30, 250 each in Seniors category. Kashif Maseeh of LGG leading the category with 150 and prize money of Rs 54,000 while Aftab Ahmed playing in KGC Pros category did hole in one to win an 800cc car.
In KGC Pros category Shakeel Malik with 145 score bagged the prize of RS. 97, 200 while Mehran Pervez ended on second and secured RS. 56, 250. . The first position with award money of Rs 22,320 was grabbed by Syed Jamal who did 151 in the KGC Senior category followed by Abu Bakar with 175 and winning Rs 13,000. Shahid Malik grabbed prize money of RS.97, 200 with a gross total of 141-3 in KGC category followed by Nadeem Ahmed with a gross 151 taking RS. 56, 250.

Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar commander Karachi was the chief guest of the occasion and he distributed the prizes among the players, He also lauded Bank Al Habib for holding golf event and assured of his all-out support for the grooming golfers for international level competitions.

Speaking at the prize distributing ceremony, Bank Al Habib Managing Director Abbas D Habib grieved the shortage of international golfers in the country. “No Pakistani golfer is representing Pakistan at the international level,” he Habib. “We have started to train teenage golfers for global representation. We will also add appearance money of Rs50, 000 for the top three golfers in the senior professional category from next year.”
