Umer Khan seals National under 18 snooker title

Young cueist from Lahore Umer Khan ousted M. Mudassir Sheikh to win the Jubilee Insurance National U-18 snooker championship at Pakistan Sports complex, Islamabad.

Fourteen year old Umer also won the Punjab snooker championship recently outclassed last year’s runner up Mudassir by 5-2 in the final match by (41-62, 65-42, 64-22, 42-54, 54-16, 77-28, 65-16).

Mudassir defeated Umer 62-41 in the first frame but then Umer came back hard against the veteran Muddasir and won next two consecutive frame by 65-42, 64-22 and took 2-1 lead. Mudassir did not give up and he won the fourth frame with a score of 54-42 to level the match 2-2 but it was resilient Umer who once again came strongly against Mudassir and won the next 3 successive frames to win the match and the title.

Total 32 cueists from Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and KPK participated in the six days long championship.

10th edition of National Junior U-21 snooker championship to start from Saturday 13th January on same venue where 32 players from the four provinces and Islamabad will take part.

Players’ meeting and draws of U-21 Championship will held today at PSB Billiards & Snooker Hall.
