National Departmental Basketball Championship kicks off today

Seven teams to participate in the National Basketball Championship to be held at Arambagh floodlit courts, Karachi.

Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF) associate secretary and former international player Abdul Nasir and the Karachi Basketball Association (KBA) president Ghulam Mohammad in a press talk unfolded the details of the championship.

Seven top teams will be seen in action the National departmental basketball championship. The championship will start with an exhibition match while the regular matches will also start after the exhibition match. 7 teams are divided into 2 pools.

Pool A: Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy & Police
Pool B: PAF, WAPDA, POF Wah & Railways

3 matches are scheduled today, Army take on Navy in the first match at 6:00pm. WAPDA are pitted against Railways in the second clash at 7:15pm while PAF face POF Wah in the day’s last match at 8:15pm. 3 more matches will be played on Tuesday 5th December.

The event is being organized by the Karachi basketball association (KBA) in collaboration with the Sindh Basketball Association (SBA) and the PBF. According to the officials, the national departmental championship is taking place at the same venue after almost a decade.

The venue, which is almost half a century old, is bustling with festivity after a long time. The court and its surroundings have been refurbished. The event concludes on Dec 9.
