DHA Basketball Club
DHA Basketball Club is one of the elite and winningest clubs in Pakistan. Going ahead with many great challenges across the country, their main goal is to promote basketball all over the country by organizing entertaining and competitive tournaments and playing against elite teams to attract the youth and spread the game.
DHA Basketball Club was formed in the late ’80s when DHA Lahore built the National Stadium in L Block, DHA, home of the club. Although they started out as a social club, it was astonishing the amount of talent and passion that was present in the group of guys that played at the stadium. Soon the team started participating in local tournaments and became not only one of the elite teams but also a fan favourite.
It wasn’t long till the club crowned itself as one of the best basketball teams in the country. After beating top tier teams such as Don Bosco, GCU, and Punjab University in their home courts, something which had not been done since the ’90s, the club was invited to participate in the Wah Cantt All-Pakistan Basketball Tournament 2016 representing Lahore Division.
A divisional basketball team has never been represented by one club alone. Needless to say, the pressure and exceptions were immense, but we did not disappoint. Beating the home department team of Pakistan Ordinance Factory in the quarter-finals, our club became the first division since the ’80s to reach a quarterfinal in an All-Pakistan tournament.
The club and certain club members have been offered to represent various departments such as Pakistan Railways, Air Force, Army and WAPDA. However, the primary goal of the club currently is to stick together and measure our ceiling.
