ITPF 2018 Tent Pegging World Cup


Pakistan six member Tent Pegging riders team along with 3 officials will participate in the ITPF 2018 Tent Pegging World Cup which is scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi UAE from 28th October to 3rd November.  

Team scheduled to leave for UAE on the 27th Oct 2018 to compete in the most competitive World Cup in the history of Tent Pegging.

Total 12 top teams including the host UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen, Sudan, South Africa, Pakistan, India, Norway, Iraq, Egypt and Oman will participate in the week long mega event.

Earlier, in January 2018, Pakistani team secured two position in the in Tent-pegging World Cup qualifiers by showing an awe-inspiring performance. After a period of ten years, Pakistan qualified for Tent-pegging World Cup 2018 scheduled to be held from October 28 to November 3.The Pakistan Team has a decent chance to register an exceptional performance in the event due to the efficient technical levels of the Pakistan Team riders.

Pakistan Team has confirmed a place in World Cup Finals after securing 2nd position in the World Cup Qualifying Round, held in Tamworth, Australia.

In qualifying round Pakistan won two gold medals in Lemon cutting, ring passing and Indian file besides this two silver medals in Lance and Sword contests. The teams from Australia, Bahrain, India, Iraq, United Arab Emirates and Pakistan participated in tournament. But only Pakistan and India qualified for the ITPF World Cup.

Captain of Pakistan National Tent Pegging Team Nigah Hussain was nominated “Best Rider” of the competition for his remarkable play.

Tent Pegging is a cavalry sport, more precisely, a mounted game involving ground targets. The sport encompasses a class of mounted cavalry carrying a edged weapon on the horseback to get hold of the ground target. Tent Pegging is also described as “equestrian skill at arms”.
