Sulman Jhangeer wins Chief of Naval Staff Amateur Golf Championship
Lahore Gymkhana’s Sulman Jhangeer won the 7th Chief of the Naval Staff Amateur Golf Championship at Lahore Garrison Golf & Country Club.
The 3 days event was concluded on Sunday 12th November 2017. Around 300 golfers participated in different categories including Amateur, Seniors, Juniors and Ladies. Individual matches were also played.
In Amateur category, Sulman Jhangeer of Gymkhana Lahore emerged as the champion with 146 total score while Zunair Aleem Khan of Defence Raya Lahore secured second position with 149 score and Zohaib Asif DHA from Karachi with 149 score got 3rd position.
Javed A Khan of Gymkhana Lahore won the Senior Category final with 77 score while Dr Javed Iqbal of LGG&CC was runner-up with 80 score. Lt Col Waqar Ahmed of LGG&CC remains 3rd with 80 score.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his message on the occasion he said that Pakistan Navy besides, its primary role of safeguarding country’s sea frontiers is cognizant of the need for promoting healthy sports activities in the country and among these, Golf has always remained one of PN’s foremost priority.
In his Welcome Address, the Patron and Station Commander (Navy) Lahore, Commodore Dr. S M Shahzad highlighted that holding of Chief of the Naval Staff Amateur Golf Championship for the 7th consecutive year in a row is a tribute to the sustained efforts of Pakistan Navy to promote Golf in Pakistan’s cultural heartland.
The grand prize distribution ceremony was attended by a large number of civil, military dignitaries and participating golfer.
