Zafar and Tehmina earn top position in 1st Hitech Couples Golf

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Minaa Zainab, a zestful and spirited lady golf organiser, in coordination with Dr M Arshed of Hi Tech Grain Mills, masterminded a grand golfing event for couples at the admirable Royal Palm Golf and Country Club Golf Course here the other day.

The competition took place over 18 holes and seasoned golf playing couples like Mian Javed Ali and Sameea Javed, Imran Malik and Shazia Imran, Raheel Salam and Abeeda Salam, Abdul Waheed and Gulfreen Waheed, Nasir Mehmood and Rubina Nasir, Ali Asghar and Sadia Asghar, Col Azam Khan and Maimoona Azam added ample grace, poise and charm by applying their golfing skills adeptly and exhibiting abundant urge to achieve top positions.

They somehow missed out being amongst the victorious ones by the barest of margins and the reason was either missed putts or inaccurate approach shots. And as for the triumphant ones, the best couple turned out to be dauntless Ahmed Zafar Hayat and his artful wife Tehmina Ahmed. These two were luminous and radiant throughout the 18 holes stroke play competition and got noticed for excellent drives and perfect looking crisp shotmaking off the fairways.

Their nearest adversaries were Asim Tiwana and Rabia Tiwana, who ended up as runners-up gross followed by Moazzam Ali Shah and Aisha Moazzam, who grabbed the third gross position.

The winning couple in net category was Col Qaiser Khan and Brig Nasira, while second net position was secured by Justice Abid Aziz and Minaa Zainab. Sardar Aaqil Omer and Sumair Omar won third net. In the race for honours in women’s individual category, the animated one turned out to be Ana James Gill. Ghazala Yasmin came second and Zaib un Nisa ended up third. The first position net went to Momina Tarrar, second net to Shabana Waheed and third to Zeenat Ayesha.
