Phannari Meeson of Thailand wins Inaugural PGF International Ladies Amateur Golf Championshiop

Thailand’s Phannari Meeson etched her name in Pakistan Golfing history by winning the inaugural edition of PGF international ladies golf championship at Defence Raya course, Lahore.

Thailand’s Phannari Meeson etched her name in Pakistan Golfing history by winning the inaugural edition of PGF international ladies golf championship at Defence Raya course, Lahore. 

Held over three rounds, this historic international ladies golfing event attracted lady golfers and teams from Thailand, Sri lanka, Uganda, Qatar, Iran, Afghanistan and Malaysia, besides the host country, Pakistan. 

Phannari Meeson led the championship from her very first tee shot and never relinquished the command over the proceedings. She prevailed over her adversaries with the round scores of 75 on the first day, a 72 on the second day and again a 72 in the final round with the total gross score of 219, five strokes ahead of her second placed countrywoman Chanettee Wannasen.

The talented Chanettette fought closely with  the scores of 78,73 and 73 and an aggregate of gross 224 for the three rounds but could not catch her compatriot and had to be content with the second place. 

Taniya Batasuriya of Sri Lanka finished her mistake prone campaign with a third place finish with the scores of 76,75 and 79 and a three round aggregate of 230.

Suneyah Osama of Garrison golf Club finished as the best golfer from Pakistan at the fourth spot with the scores of 79, 76 and 78 and an aggregate of 233. 

Humna Amjad of Pakistan ended the championship at a score of 242 along with Lana Ardini, Malaysia.

Maisrah Muhammed, also of Malaysia, finished with 244, followed by Kayla Perera of Sri Lanka at 247, Aaniya Farooq (Pakistan) 250, Nada Mir (Qatar) 253, Magala Evah (Uganda) 255.

In the handicap category of 14-24 , Nazanin Shahraki of Iran won with the gross score 160.

Second gross went to Momina Tarrar of Royal Palm while third position went to Syeda Iman Ali Shah of Gymkhana.

At the conclusion of the 1st PGF International Ladies Golf Championship, Begum Samina Alvi, First Lady of Pakistan, awarded prizes to the top performers.
