Subhan Bin Salik to meet Shoaib in semis of Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis C'ships

The unseeded Subhan bin Salik is up against second seed Mohammad Shoaib in boys’ singles semi-finals of the Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championships at PTF Complex, Islamabad.

 

The unseeded Subhan bin Salik is up against second seed Mohammad Shoaib in boys’ singles semi-finals of the Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championships at PTF Complex, Islamabad.

Subhan overcame Turkey’s Kerem Ozlale 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 in a three-set thriller that lasted two hours and 10 minutes.

After being broken in the last game of the first set, making two double faults, Subhan broke Ozlale in the third, fifth and seventh game of the second and then in the second and sixth of the third to set up a clash with Shoaib who eased past Turkey’s Tuna Nergizoglue 6-2, 6-1.

The other two quarter-finals were hit by rain with another local hope Ahmed Kamil leading Nepal’s Aryan Giri 7-5, 3-4 before the second set was stopped.

The fourth quarter-final, between top-seeded Hakten Garayev of Azerbaijan and fifth seed Souta Oomura of Japan was rescheduled for Friday.

Elsewhere, Turkey’s Mina Toglukdemir, the third seed, reached the girls’ singles final after she beat Hong Kong’s Hannah Kaile Shen 6-1, 7-6 (8-6).

Chinese top seed Ren Ke was leading Turkey’s Billur Gonlusen 5-7, 6-1, 5-2 when the other semi-final was stopped in the final set. The doubles semi-finals were also affected due to rain and will be played on Friday.
