Talented, Shahid Habib takes Serena Hotels Azadi Golf Cup 2019 crown

The 2019 Serena Hotels Azadi Golf Cup successfully concluded with Shahid Habib taking home the victory of Net category title in the one-day event that played at Islamabad Club Golf Course.

Among several participating members of the diplomatic corps, dignitaries, corporate sector and businessmen golfers, Shahid Habib was able to clinched the Net category title he was followed by Rashid Ibrahim and Lt Gen Azhar Saleh Abbasi on second and third positions.

Zeenat Ayesha was crowned with the title of Ladies Net category while Alima Amjad took the second spot. Junior Gross category title winner stood Shazmina Khan where as Syed Amir Gillani, with his besst skills in the sport was able to bag the special prize for Longest Drive while Jawad Paul grabbed the closest to pin title.

This prestigious golfing event was held at the green and lush course of Islamabad Golf Club in the presence of Ambassador of Turkmenistan/Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Atadjan Movlamov, CEO Serena Hotels, Aziz Boolani and former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral, Asif Sandila.

Islamabad Club Serena Hotels under its Sports Diplomacy Initiative hosted the ‘Azadi Golf Tournament 2019’ in collaboration with Islamabad Club that featured a total of three category competitions were held, whose winners were awarded with glittering trophies by CEO Serena Hotels Aziz Boolani and President Islamabad Club Golf Course, Jawad Paul while special prizes for the Longest Drive and Closest to Pin were also given to the winners of it. 

In regard with this event, Serena Hotels CEO, Aziz Boolani said,
“We use sports to provide a platform to our foreign diplomats and friends, serving and retired bureaucrats and ourselves to establish links with other professionals and peers. This is an opportunity to develop friendships and demonstrate our abilities and interests in different sports.”
Over the years, Sports Diplomacy has emerged as an integral part of Serena’s efforts to build stronger relations with communities while encouraging diverse groups to participate in sports, thereby improving leadership, teamwork, and communication skills along with promoting a healthier lifestyle.
