As expected, Ahmad Baig stands as new champion of 21st Sindh Open Golf Championship

Talented and young golfer, Ahmad Baig from Lahore Garrison emerged as title winner of the 2019 Sindh Open Golf Championship, which successfully concluded at Arabian Sea Country Club in Karachi.

 
The sensational Ahmad Baig of Lahore Garrison Golf Club was up against his more accomplished and much experienced professional golfers like Matloob Ahmed and Shabbir Iqbal but it was the last round when Ahmad Baig changed it all to emerge as the new champion of Sindh Open Golf Championship, which has been held over the years.

Ahmad was on the lead from the very first day to which he extended his domination on the last two days of the championship as well by scoring an impressive six under par in the second round, recording seven birdies with an cumulative score of 11 under par whereas he finished the three-day championship with an aggregate of 200 (-16) to win the title.

This is the first major title for Ahmad, who turned professional after winning a series of junior and amateur events like the Faldo Series Asia Final in Vietnam, Bangladesh Amateur and Qatar Amateur.

“It is a great feeling winning the Sindh Open ahead of so many top players,” said Ahmad.

Defending champion Matloob Ahmed, followed Ahmad on the runner up spot with managing a three-day  aggregate of -11. after finishing with an aggregate of -11 while five-time champion, Shabbir Iqbal settled for the third spot and Shahid Javed Khan took fourth position. Each of the top three spot gainers were awarded with Rupees 322,500, 208,550 and 135,450, respective to their positions. 

Ghazanfar Mehmood, Muhammad Sharif and Zohaib Asif stands as the top three position holder in the Amateurs Category while the Senior Professionals’ Category winners are Muhammad Akram of Lahore Gymkhana, followed by Imdad Hussain and Tahir Naseem ending on third.

Abdul Wadood won in the Junior Professionals' Category ahead of Muhammad Insaf and Muhammad Saqib while talented, Aania Farooq was crowned the title of Ladies Cateogry and Tabassum Sharif and Danyal Khan won in the Juniors' Category.
