SSGC stuns WAPDA 1-0 to book spot in 28th National Challenge Football Cup final

SSGC earned a hard fought victory against WAPDA by 1-0 in the first semi-final to book berth in the grand final of the 2019 National Challenge Football Cup which is being played at Tehmash Khan Football Stadium in Peshawar.

SSGC men made quite a comeback and stunned the leading WAPDA team when they finally were able to beat them on a close call of 1-0 in the first semi-final match played yesterday.

Although it is a narrow margin win but for SSGC it saved them a spot in the final of the cup, while for WAPDA team as well, it is not an embarrassing blowout although the players were not able to take their team to the final of 28th National Football Challenge Cup but played it tough with their heart on the line till the end.

Saddam Hussain was the star-stud player of SSGC who emerged as the hero for his team to book them a place in the final of this mega tournament when he netted an incredible shot past several approaching players of the opponent team, right into their net post at 23rd minute, thus SSGC boys did not allow WAPDA players to score for their side at all for the remaining match.

However, SSGC's team game play was quiet messy as several of it's players were warned with yellow card warnings for their foul play in the game, comparative to which, only one player from WAPDA was given yellow card.

The second semi-final was contested between Pakistan Amry and KRL teams where a thrilling match was witnessed which ended in 2-2 draw. Now, according to the head to head stats in last four matches, both teams finished with a draw twice and won one match each so today both sides would be given a chance to take lead for the final match.
