Semi-finals line up completes in 28th National Football Challenge Cup

WAPDA, SSGC, KRL and Army will be facing each other in the semi-finals of the 2019 National Football Challenge Cup which is being played at Tehmash Khan Football Stadium in Peshawar.

 

Peshawar hosting the 28th National Football Challenge Cup witnessed it's quarter final stage coming to an end with WAPDA, SSGC, KRL and Army teams further qualifying to the semi-final stage. 

Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Police football teams were both battling for a spot in the semis of the tournament but Police team faced quiet an embarrassing blowout when they hit the rock bottom with just one goal in their tally against KRL teams' 6 successful attempts. 

KRL team took the lead through Umair Ali in just the first minute of the game when he landed the ball quiet easily into the opponent net to which most of the first half remained goalless but it was Yousaf from Police team who equalized the score line with his effort at the shot against KRL's goal post which became successful at the 40th minute. But Umair Ali did not stay behind for long and hit the ball right into the Police team's side in the 44th minute and thus finished the first session with a 2-0 lead for KRL team. 

KRL boys kept up more pressure in the second session to take the lead further and with the combined move of the team this time, Zahid Umar netted a fine goal and made it a 3-0 lead at the exact 55th minute. From then on, the opponent team was absolutely unable to score for their side due to the excellent goal keeping and defence of team KRL players. Muhammad Imran Khan and Muhammad Zeeshan Siddique were two more players from KRL's side to score in the 59th and 80th minute and Umair Ali once against netted the ball in the dying moments of the match to make it a 6-0 victory of their team. 

The final quarter final game witnessed Army team's victory over Navy boys when they won the match by 2-0 in the extra time through Ansar Abbas and Zil Hasnain.
