Ghazala lifts 1st PGF Ladies Golf title

Ghazala Yasmin of Lahore Garrison Golf Club emerged as the winner of the 1st PGF Ladies Amateur Golf Championship 

Ghazala Yasmin and Maryama Khan were off to flying start in the two-round 54 holes 1st Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) Ladies Amateur Golf Championship 2016 which commenced here at the par-72, Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course Saturday. 
The inaugural shot was hit by Yasmin Mubarik, whom the Tournament Director, Dr Asma Afzal Shami referred to as the most prominent one of ladies golf arena of Pakistan. Ghazala ended the first 18 holes with a gross score of 76 compiled through two birdies on holes 11 and 14, eleven regulation pars and bogies on holes 1, 4, 12 and 15. Maryama, who was behind the leader Ghazala, scored on holes 11, 15, 16 and 18 with overall aggregated 78 gross, six over par. 
Maryama was also net leaders in this handicap category with net 69 along with Rimsha Ijaz of Margalla also net 69. Others top performers were Shahzadi Gulfam of Punjab Police net 70, Ana James Gill (Royal Palm) net 72, Humera Khalid (Karachi) net 73, Zeenat Ayesha (Islamabad)net 73, and Fari Sayeed (Karachi) net 74. 
In the handicap category 19 to 30, the top ones in gross are Faiza Imtia (Islamabad), Arooba Ali (Rawalpindi) and Saima Ijaz (Margalla). The top ones in net are Riyah Maqbool, Hussain Bano and Noorus Saba. The 1st PGF Ladies Amateur Golf Championship will conclude today (Sunday) and was graced by Governor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana as chief guest. 
Earlier, the inaugural shot was hit by Yasmin Mubarik, whom the Tournament Director, Dr Asma Afzal Shami referred to as the most prominent one of ladies golf arena of Pakistan, her golf teacher and a ladies golf champion who dominated ladies golf in the decades of 70's and 80's. 
Without doubt, Dr Asma was a golfer with a beautiful and rhythmic golf swing and many golf accomplishments to her credit. What added galaxy of color to the occasion was the fanfare and presence of over 70 golf playing ladies, many of whom have come from Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and also there were the Lahore ladies.
