Pakistan withdraws participation in SAFF Women's Football Championship 2019

Pakistan Women's National Football Team will not be taking part in SAFF Women's Championship which is scheduled to kick off next month from 12 to 22 March in Nepal.

 

The battle of South Asian Supremacy, South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship 2019 is all set to kick off on 12th March and this year, Nepal will be hosting this mega football action but unfortunately Pakistan would not be able to take part after the Faisal Saleh Hayat faction of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) withdrew from the event just like they did in 2016.

Previously, Pakistan's Women Football team's participation was confirm and as per that Pakistan was placed in Pool A along with 3 other South Asian countries which were: Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. The opening match will be played between the host Nepal and Bhutan while Pakistan was to open its campaign against Bangladesh in the second match but now as Pakistan's participation is cancelled a new group table and schedule will be formed to further conduct this championship. 

About seven (7) teams were to participate and now excluding Pakistan among it, the remaining stands; Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Last senior match the women's team played was in 2014 edition that was hosted in Islamabad.
