FIS allow Naltar ski range to hold international events.

The Federation of International Skiing ( FIS) has awarded the status of FIS races to Chief of Air Staff Korakuram Ski Cup in Pakistan which will enable the country to hold international PIS approved skiing competitions at the Naltar Ski Range. 

In a landmark move, the Federation of International Skiing ( FIS) has awarded the status of FIS races to Chief of Air Staff Korakuram Ski Cup in Pakistan which will enable the country to hold international PIS approved skiing competitions at the Naltar Ski Range.

The federation on the reciept of the FIS reports has also approved the Naltar ski slop fit for international winter games. According to a press-release issued by the media wing of ski federation, the Chief of Air Korakuram Cup 2016 was held at Naltar ski slope in which a four-member Turkish ski team participated on Pakistan's invitation a few days back under FIS technical delegate and referee.

In four days competitions in slalom and giant slalom cate-gories both teams showed great sportsmenship The competitions were supervised by FIS technical delegate Andreo (Greece) and Turkish referee Ismail. Before the competition the Pakistan Ski Federation got a costly snow pressing machine and also provided time device of international standard at the Naltar ski slope.

As the competitions finished the FIS representatives sent their report to FIS which in turn strongly approved the Korakuram Cup fit for FIS races.

A 100-seat chairlift was also made operational at the Naltar Ski Slope. All these were mandatory to hold international competitions. Qaswar Hussain Naqvi, secretery general of the Pakistan Ski Federation, while appreciating the FIS decision termed it a great breakthrough for Pakistan.

"Now our skiers can avail the opportunity to get FIS code and get all the benefits," he said. "Previously our athletes used to go to various countries to avail PIS races for Olympics which cost us a lot. But now not only our athletes but others as well can avail the facilities at the Naltar ski slope."
